Hannah Saunders founder journey from RAF to Dragons’ Den

From Turbulence to Take-Off: My Journey from RAF to Dragons’ Den and Beyond

Helping founders raise investment with confidence, because I’ve walked the path.

The Moment That Changed Everything

Two years ago, I stood in front of five of Britain’s toughest investors on the BBC’s Dragons’ Den.

I pitched a children’s skincare brand I built from scratch. I walked away with three offers, and eventually accepted investment from Steven Bartlett and Deborah Meaden.

It was a moment that changed everything, but truth be told, the real story started long before the cameras rolled.

🚧 A Difficult Start

I didn’t grow up with much. My childhood wasn’t easy. Like so many entrepreneurs, that adversity became fuel. I didn’t have connections or capital, but I had grit, curiosity, and a sense that there had to be more.

I joined the Royal Air Force because I needed direction and purpose. The discipline, teamwork, and resilience I gained there became the backbone of everything that followed. The RAF gave me structure, but I still had that burning itch to build something of my own.

🚀 Starting from Nothing

That “something” became Toddle - a skincare brand inspired by my own experiences and built with nothing but belief, borrowed time, and sheer determination. I spent nights packing boxes, days pitching retailers, and weekends testing formulas and writing copy.

And then Dragons’ Den happened.

I stood on that famous carpet and told my story, raw, real, unrehearsed. I shared my childhood, my military background, and my big dream. The Dragons saw something in me.

Three of them made offers. I chose Steven and Deborah, not just for the capital, but because I knew they could help me go further.

Together, we scaled. Fast.

🏁 The Exit by Design

For me, building Toddle wasn’t just about creating a business, it was about creating value. From the beginning, I had a clear goal: grow the brand and sell. And that’s exactly what I did. Toddle has now been acquired by new owners, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we achieved.

But that was just one chapter.

💼 Life After the Den: Serial Entrepreneur Mode

Today, I work with founders who are where I once was:

  • Big dream, small budget

  • Massive potential, not enough investor know-how

I help founders craft investor-ready pitch decks, understand what to say to investors, and more importantly, how to say it. '

I help businesses raise money, tell their story, and position themselves to scale.

Because I’ve been there.

I’m now also proud to serve as:

  • Chief Marketing Officer at WeServed – a powerful new platform supporting veterans.

  • Non-Exec Director at EasyPet – an exciting brand transforming pet care.

  • Chief Growth Officer to MeetNudge – a game-changing data insights platform for startups.

I’m building, mentoring, investing and loving every second of it.
